Full Page Magazine Ad: Velour Music Group
Client
Velour Music Group
Project Notes
This was my first project as a freelance designer, and I’m pretty proud of it. A friend at Velour Music Group contacted me about desiging this full page ad promoting the label’s latest releases.
I was given the detailed instructions of “design something really cool with a neutral, urban motif.”
They turned me loose, and this was the result.
The ad ran in both Harp and Paste magazines, some of my favorite music industry rags.
Not bad for a first freelance gig!

Brochure: Stevens Home
Client
CDIA Project
Project Notes
These two brochures were designed to be the first in an ongoing series promoting Stevens Home, a residential treatment center for adolescent boys.
The client was especially interested in including as many photos as possible, despite the relatively large amount of copy in each brochure.
My solution was to display the photos across the top, like a film strip, leaving ample space for the copy below.
Since the Stevens Home logo is based on their “historic home” office, I decided to frame the brochure using the negative space created by the columns supporting the porch of the house itself.

Newsletter: American Heart Association
Client
CDIA Project
Project Notes
The goal of this project was to create a compelling 2-color newsletter for the American Heart Association.
This is a good example of what can be acheived with good old-fashioned layout and typography skills, rather than relying on fancy software or full-color imagery to drive the design.
